Chess is a great way to help children develop a process for strategic planning, thinking under time pressure, and learning while having fun!
Many studies have shown that chess helps school children learn cognitive and non-cognitive skills. They learn cognitive skills such as counting, problem solving, and planning ahead. They also gain non-cognitive skills like learning to wait your turn patiently and how to win or lose gracefully.
Chess Achieves, promotes learning chess with lessons and community camps. We host tournaments to help children make a relationship between studying and practicing a subject to then applying what they have learned to show improvement.
This year, we are working to help hundreds of parents and children learn, practice, and compete in chess. We are training new chess instructors and facilitators to help grow chess in our area.
We are asking you, today, to help by setting up a fully tax deductible contribution. Your donation will be used to introduce children to chess and facilitate chess events. Once again, to set up your generous donation, please call us at (919) 272-8017.
